Artist Talk—Contemporary Drawing: A Conversation with Tony Lewis and Matt Saunders

In this lecture, Tony Lewis, a Chicago-based artist, and Matt Saunders, an artist and the Harris K. Weston Associate Professor of the Humanities at Harvard, will discuss various practices and techniques of drawing. Considering their own work, Lewis and Saunders will explore some of the unique questions that the fugitive medium of drawing poses to contemporary audiences.

This program was generously supported by the Getty Foundation’s initiative The Paper Project: Prints and Drawings Curatorship in the 21st Century. In tandem with this program, the Harvard Art Museums hosted the private workshop “The Potential of Technical Studies and Conservation for Prints and Drawings Curatorship, A Professional Workshop,” which invited early-career curators from around the world to question and contextualize prints and drawings on a technical level to strengthen their curatorial practice.
