Staying On - Paul Scott

The 1980 television adaptation by Granada Television of Paul Scott's novel "Staying On". It is sometimes referred to as a sequel to his tetralogy "The Jewel in the Crown". In fact, only the minor characters Lucy and Tusker Smalley are carried over as two members of the old British raj who "stayed on" in India after independence. Tusker and Lucy are the last Brits remaining in Pankot. Set in 1972, they are aging and Lucy is worried about the deterioration of Tusker's health and their place in the changing India, especially for her if Tusker should die.
