The future of volunteerism | Richard Dictus | TEDxBonn

This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Richard Dictus talks about how the International Volunteering programme of the United Nations can help facilitate change, inspire and equip young professionals for their career at the global level.

Richard Dictus (Netherlands) took up his appointment as the Executive Coordinator of the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme on 2 January 2013. Richard joined UNV after having served as United Nations (UN) Resident Coordinator / United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative in Malawi (January 2009 – December 2012). During his four years in Malawi, Richard worked towards his vision of a unified and coordinated UN system in Malawi, which supports the country to achieve its development efforts with increased efficiency and innovation.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
