Basic introduction to Virtual Computers (VirtualBox)

Virtual Computer programs let you run another Operating System (OS) under your current OS. The resources for the Virtual Computer will be used from the host computer.

The more memory you have, the better. If you have an additional hard drive, store the virtual computer's hard disk on that one so that the host OS's performance won't drop significantly.

You can run older or newer versions of Operating Systems on the same pc in the same time. This is great for trying out new OSes without seriously modifying your PC's configuration. The Virtual Computer's files can be deleted at any time, not affecting at al the host operating system you are using currently.

You can even share files between the virtual PC and the host PC. Even the internet is usable inside the virtual PC.
