► Kalimba

A Kalimba also known as thumb piano is a percussion instrument which produces rhythmic tones and relaxing sounds.
The Kalimba derived from an African instrument known as an mbira, but generally kalimba is smaller and with fewer keys.
The basic Kalimba is composed by a wooden board with metal keys (called lamellas) attached on the top. The keys usually consist of 20 to 24 metal tongues mounted across two bars at one end attached to the soundbox with a wooden dowel holding them in place.
The Kalimba produces a fluid percussive sounds considered tranquil and enchanting. It is also possible to produce harmonic, rhythmic soothing effects.
