Preservation of our Photographic Heritage | Ms. Debra Norris | TEDxUniversityofDelaware

Our heritage from the 19th century forward is often captured in photography. The preservation of this heritage is crucial for future generations, as photographic materials deteriorate due to a variety of factors. This talk discusses the importance of conservation and encourages viewers to take steps to conserve their own photographic collections. Debra Hess Norris chairs the department of art conservation at the University of Delaware and directs
the Winterthur/ UD Program in Art Conservation. She has led more than 150 workshops worldwide in
Africa, Asia, the Americas, Europe and the Middle East - and authored book chapters and articles on the conservation of photographic materials, emergency response and fundraising for cultural heritage preservation. She is grateful to serve on a multitude of boards and advisory committees centered on education and cultural heritage preservation. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
