North Winds - 6 days solo bushcraft, baker tent camping, rainstorm, wood stove, bush salve, 2 camps

I arrived late at my first campsite, day one was spent painting my camp and enjoying a hearty meal.
Lots of plans for day 2 but they were postponed, got hit by a freaky north wind rainstorm that lasted all day. I did the best I could to entertain myself, the day was spent fixing gear, baking, making pouches and getting some solid rest for the paddling ahead. Most of day 3 was spent paddling lakes and setting up new camp. Temperatures varied wildly from very cold to boiling hot. The peak mosquito season is here, so having the baker tent with bug net was very helpful. I set my second camp on a very windy location, great regarding the mosquitoes but very dangerous to have an open fire directly on dry ground. The trusty old woodstove came in handy once again. Most of my time in the second camp was spent foraging for resources, fishing and painting.
I found a massive birch burl on a dead tree, unfortunately it was completely rotten. It would of been nice to carve a new food bowl. I did score a lot of spruce resin and since the bugs were frantic, it was the perfect time to make some bush salve to alleviate the skin irritation caused by their bites. the ingredients are below if you care to make some. This bush cream is very useful for insect bites, dry lips, burns, minor cuts, eczema, reconditioning leather products and much more. Resin is the trees natural defence against injuries and it has anti septic properties, If its good for them it's good for me. Thanks for watching - Ric

meat, potatoes, garlic butter, cheeses, chorizo, oregano, bush made pizza dough, eggs, chick peas, fish, wild onion

BUSH SALVE
spruce or pine resin, beeswax and olive oil. I usually just eyeball the measurements, depending on what I need the salve for, I make it oilier, creamier or more resinous. You can find many exact recipes online
