The Debut of THE NEW WHITNEY MUSEUM

James Kalm, since his arrival in New York over three decades ago, has been an avid visitor to the Whitney. The New Whitney Museum of American Art was designed by architect Renzo Piano. Located overlooking the Hudson River at the southern edge of the world famous Chelsea art neighborhood, this new building includes approximately 50,000 square feet of indoor galleries and 13,000 square feet of outdoor exhibition space. Your correspondent gives viewers a spontaneous stroll through the building, and a cursory viewing of "America Is Hard to See," the debut exhibition featuring over a century's worth of gems from the Whitney's permanent collection.
