Life below the war torn streets of Kharkiv - BBC News

"My tears say it all. It's very hard. Why do we have to suffer?"

Zhenia is one of many people living in the metro tunnels beneath the war torn city of Kharkiv in northeast Ukraine.

She has been wearing the same clothes since her home was hit by Russian artillery in February, forcing her to seek refuge in the station with many others from similar situations.

But the longer they remain in the station without fresh air or the ability to wash, the more people are getting ill.

This is life below the war torn streets of Kharkiv.
