Spearing and Cooking a Peacock Flounder!

I always bring a sling spear whenever I snorkel and it was a good thing I did because I speared a peacock flounder! Me ancient and I were octopus hunting when I suddenly spied a nice-sized flounder not buried under the sand. This is really a perfect fish to spear for a newbie spearfisherman because it is a really big target and they let you get close to them. I was really happy with the catch until we cooked it up and the fish was so bony, it was almost inedible! Maybe if we speared a really big one and then filet it just right, it might be good? The meat tasted excellent but the bones were a fine and plentiful and made the eating unpleasant. I don't think we'll be eating another one but we were still glad we tried it!
