Big Seal Rescue with New Net

This was the first time testing the new net on a big seal! This large male weighed around 100kg, and had a bundle of thin fishing line around his chest. Naude and Denzil from Ocean Conservation Namibia found him at Pelican Point, Namibia early one morning and it was clear he needed help.
The came in from the beach side, and Naude managed to secure him in the net before he could escape to the ocean. He was fast and strong, but the lighter, stronger new net did great!
The seal was happily released without any signs of injury from the thin fishing line
