Why Everyone Is Waiting On WandaVision

Marvel's Phase 4 is all set to open with a nostalgic ode to classic television sitcoms-with a magical, inter-dimensional, reality-altering twist. Unlike anything it has done before, the MCU will kick its next Phase off with a miniseries called WandaVision on its streaming platform, Disney+. The long anticipated show created a stir when its official trailers brought a wave of nostalgia with their old-timey television look and feel. They showed us the idyllic image of a happily married Wanda Maximoff and Vision, something that the Marvel movies had categorically denied us due to the devastating consequences of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame: the death of Vision. The quintessential Marvel fan, however, knows a lot better than to ask 'why?', and, instead, speculates as to the 'how' of these things. Theories around Wanda's exceptional sorcery and mutant powers soon took hold of Marvel's internet landscapes, projecting vivid descriptions of her relationship with reality through quotes of the extensive Marvel comic book sources. Besides being a more fully fleshed ode to Wanda's incredible abilities, which Marvel had to previously portray with temperance due to copyright legalities, the series is prominent because it connects to major Phase 4 narratives. Studio head Kevin Feige has already winked and nodded about a major tie-in with another Phase 4 instalment, but the true extent of Wanda's role in the MCU will be drafted in WandaVision. Marvel will also make an anticipated pivot from single-hero action movies to more diverse ensemble undertakings, sprawled across different platforms. WandaVision is an important starting point of this new journey.
