Bonus points: do not leave right away when you start the ballast pump. Always observe. The packing may be too loose. In that case, you need to tighten it a little bit so that the bilge well will not accumulate a lot of water.
Always look at the pressure gauge when you start the ballast pump. The pressure gauge will tell you if the pressure is normal or not.
