WATCH: Rep. Jim Jordan challenges Democrats' portrayal of Trump-Zelensky call
Trump's first impeachment - 2020
Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, argued against an amendment to the articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump that the "facts are on the president's side." Jordan said language laid out in the transcript of the July 25 call between Trump and Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky demonstrated that Trump was asking the leader do a favor for the U.S.' interests, not specifically for him. Jordan said the "country had been through a lot" -- echoing Trump's words that were reflected in the notes of the call released by the White House -- in a criticism of his Democratic lawmaker colleagues. "Heck, our country had been through a lot and the president was pretty ticked about, and he wanted to figure out what was going on," Jordan said.
