RV Water Damage Repair + Window Removal/Wall Paneling

Today we remove the window in order to reinforce the vinyl siding with a piece of 5mm wood paneling and also to re-seal the leaky window -- the source of a lot of the water-damage -- which we’ll be resealed with new butyl tape and sealant.

Once you’ve unscrewed the aluminum trim around the window (RV interior side) and the exterior screws, you’re ready to remove the window itself. This is not a one person job! Definitely work with a partner! One person should carefully start pushing on the corners from the inside of the RV until you feel the window start to come loose. The other person should be supporting the window from the outside - ready to catch it when it falls.

RENOVATION TIP:
Make sure to remove all the old sealant tape before you begin the re-sealing process. Removing all of the old stuff will give you a clean foundation to work on and help ensure your new waterproof seal is a good one.
