Rough and Cut Spinel With Edward Boehm by GIA. For centuries, spinel, the great imposter, masqueraded as ruby in Europe’s crown jewels. Although frequently confused with ruby, spinel gemstone stands completely on its own merits. It comes in a variety of colors: blue, purple, red, pink, lavender and green.
