Fly Fishing from Sweetwater Mongolian Taimen Camp

Located in the Eg-Ur watershed, Sweetwater’s Taimen camps have been operating in the same place since 1995. they have carefully managed the fishery to insure that today’s anglers enjoy the same opportunities as the first anglers who visited Mongolia fifteen years ago.

Taimen are known as the River Wolf in Mongolia and are an especially ferocious fish which have been known to eat prairie dogs, ducklings, squirrels, and other fish half their size. When not devouring their prey, Taimen attack dry flies. The average fish on this watershed measures 30 inches with 50 plus inch fish hooked every week. The biggest Taimen landed here measured 60.5 inches and weighed upwards of 80 pounds. There truly is no better place in the world to catch a gaint Taimen.
