What happened to Syrio Forel?

In Game of Thrones Season 1 Episode 8, Syrio saved Arya Stark's life by fighting Ser Meryn Trant and other Lannister soliders. We know that Ser Meryn Trant survived, but what happened to Syrio Forel? Some fans believe that he lived; that Jaqen H'ghar is Syrio Forel.
