Take the land now! That is the overwhelming view of the majority of South Africans according to a Big Debate Poll out this week. Not surprising given that two thirds of our citizens are poor, living on under R50 a day, and 7 million go to bed hungry. But will the EFFs proposal to nationalise the land work? Or will it collapse the economy and leave our supermarket shelves empty? Where will the DA find the money to continue compensating farmers under their willing buyer model? And what about the ANC, who want to have their cake and eat it - telling international investors that their property is safe, whilst telling voters at home that they will give back the land. Does any party have any fresh ideas that can work?
