Walking with Lions, and Swimming with Tigers in South Africa
Music: 1ª ''Wonderful Africa Chill '' , 2ª ''Dazzle Me (Deja Vu SoundTrack)'.
PLEASE do some research before you decide to volunteer! Unfortunately there are many places that breed/sell lions that end up as trophy`s!
Between 2007-2012;
- 86 live lions were exported from South Africa that went to circuses.
- 292 live lions were exported from South Africa that went to zoos.
- 3271 lion-hunting trophies were exported from South Africa.
Take a minute for that enormous figure to sink in. 3271. In 6 years. 3271 CAPTIVE-BRED LIONS were SHOT in South Africa and their bodies were exported as hunting trophies.
How many captive-bred lions were released back into the wild?
0 - NOT A SINGLE ONE!
So if you are looking at a project that claims to release lion - do some more research, be critical and ask questions!
- Do they breed?
- Are the cubs taken from their moms? Why?
- What happens when the cubs grow up?
Make sure you dont indirectly support canned hunting!

White lions are NOT albinos - They have blue or gold colouration in their eyes, black features on the tip of their noses as well as "eye-lining" and, dark patches behind their ears ("follow-me signs"). By contrast, albino lions, which lack pigmentation, have characteristic pink or red colouration to their features. White colouration in White Lions is similar to blue eyes in humans, which is similarly due to a recessive gene!
The last white lion was seen in the wild in 1994, after which time they were technically extinct in the wild. Some say White Lions cannot survive in the wild due to perceived lack of camouflage, but it has not been scientifically tested. Currently, there is no law nationally or internationally that protects the White Lions from being wiped off the face of the earth....
