Perception and the Brain: Views From an Artist and a Scientist
The Mortimer B. Zuckerman Mind Brain Behavior Institute invites you to join us for an exploration of perception and the brain through two complementary presentations. Charles S. Zuker, Ph.D., Professor of Biochemistry, Molecular Biophysics and Neuroscience, and a world-renowned authority on the senses, discusses how the brain performs its magic. Internationally renowned visual artist and Alan Kanzer Artist-in-Residence Julie Mehretu then discusses her work and reflects on her interactions with neuroscientists at the Zuckerman Institute during her residence, followed by a discussion between the speakers.
This program is made possible with the generous support of Alan Kanzer. Columbia University’s School of the Arts and Zuckerman Institute are grateful to Mr. Kanzer for his generosity and commitment to fostering interactions between the arts and neuroscience.
