Meet Melissa Begg, Dean of Columbia’s School of Social Work

For over 30 years, Melissa Begg has held both academic and administrative positions at Columbia. Her latest role is dean of Columbia School of Social Work. “The social work school and the social work profession focus on ensuring that all can reach their full potential despite their life circumstances,” she told Columbia News, “we’re about maximizing human well-being.”

“The sooner we realize that we have to work together to build a better society,” said Dean Begg, “the more change we can render.”
