10. McStay Family
On February 4, 2010, 40-year-old Joseph Mcstay; his wife, 43-year-old Summer, and their two preschool-aged sons, Gianni and Joey Jr. disappeared from their Fallbrook, California home. Their cherished family dogs were left outside in the cold and food was left on the counter half prepared.

9. Craig Williamson
In a mystifying missing persons case that was featured on the long-running Unsolved Mysteries television series, Angela Reinhardt last heard from her husband, Craig Williamson, on August 30, 1993 during a fishing trip to Colorado Springs. Williamson called Reinhardt at the couple’s Wisconsin home from his hotel room around 9:30 PM, and everything seemed fine.

8. David Lee Niles
A 72-year-old Michigan man named David Lee Niles disappeared one night in 2006, shortly after being diagnosed with cancer and while suffering from depression. He abruptly exited a bar after meeting with a family friend, and for nearly the next decade, he remained missing, with no apparent clues to his whereabouts.

7. Margo Freshwater
Margo Freshwater, a Columbus, Ohio teen, was convicted of first-degree murder in 1970. She was just 18 when the crime occurred, dating an attorney 20 years older than her who went on a three-state robbery and killing spree. While being escorted by an unarmed prison guard, she scaled a fence and fled the Tennessee State Prison for Women.

6. Carlos Sánchez Ortiz De Salazar
Dr. Carlos Sanchez Ortiz de Salazar, a gifted multilingual psychologist and physician from Seville, Spain, who vanished in 1996. The mild-mannered, studious man stopped showing up for work, and for the next 14 years, his devastated family and friends searched desperately for him, but their efforts were unsuccessful.

5. Reyna Marroquin
When a man named Ronald Cohen sold his split-level Jericho, New York home in September 1999, he discovered the mummified remains of a woman while moving a 55-gallon (208.2 liters) drum for the new homeowner. Like something out of a thriller, the findings were quite horrific.

4. Gabriel Nagy
Gabriel Nagy, a married father of two living in Australia, never came home for lunch on January 21, 1987. His burned out car was subsequently discovered on the roadside, but Nagy himself was nowhere to be found.

3. The ‘buckskin Girl’
In April 1981, the body of a young, auburn-haired woman wearing a buckskin coat was discovered along a highway near Troy, Ohio. Nicknamed the ‘Buckskin Girl,” investigators determined she had died recently -- just hours before -- but they had no idea who she was, and the case quickly grew cold.

On May 29, 1971, two 17-year-old Vermillion, South Dakota women named Pamela Jackson and Cheryl Miller disappeared while en route to a party in a 1960 Studebaker Lark.

On September 28, 1995, New Britain, Connecticut police discovered the remains of a 17-year-old female behind a shopping plaza, wrapped in bags. Eight days later, they found another female body in western Massachusetts, about 40 miles (64.4 km) from New Britain.
