In US news and current events today, thousands of protesters turned up in London’s Trafalgar Square and in front of the American embassy in Berlin to support Black Americans protesting against several high-profile killings of Black people in the last few weeks including the death of George Floyd, a 46-year-old man in Minnesota who died after an officer knelt on his neck for nearly 8 min Large scale protests were also seen in Toronto, CA both in solidarity with Floyd and Regis Korchinski-Paquet a woman who died in Canada on May 27 after falling off a balcony during an altercation with police just two days after Floyd’s death. In the U.S. coverage of the ongoing protests have drawn criticism with many protesters and activists noting the focus on violence both by police and alleged looters. While protesters say demonstrations have been largely peaceful on the side of the protesters.
