RESTORATION BEGINS! What's Wrong With My 12 Year Old Aston Martin Vantage | PART 1

The first ever Shmeemobile is back in the collection but being 12 years old, of course it is not perfect and there's some work to be done! Let's take a full tour through the car, bring back some memories, and plan out what needs to be done to restore it to former glory.

I first bought the Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster in 2010, introducing it to the @Shmee150 channel and it gained the nickname of the 'Shmeemobile' for the first time. The very first video in which I spoke to camera was driving this exact car around central London, before it then appeared in adventures and road trips, going to numerous events and convoys, and really kick started everything that has happened since.

After recently finding the car and taking it for a test drive, when the owner made an offer to purchase it back the result was inevitable and it will now remain a permanent car in the garage. However, to ensure it looks the part, and being a 12 year old Aston Martin, there are a number of things that need some work.

Visually it's in pretty good shape, of course there are a few stone chips to the Glacial Blue paintwork, however it's overall very tidy. The wheels need refurbishment and for sure a new set of tyres as it still wears a set from 2011! The mirror arms have gone the way of many Vantages and the paint has corroded, while the interior has a little wear as you'd expect and can be easily repaired. Of course it also needs to be re-registered to the original 87 TB plate, which will be happening at the first possible opportunity!

It'll be a fun project to bring it back to how it was when I first bought it 11 years ago, because each and every time seeing it in the collection will be special and bring back memories of those early days.
