Enchanting a Pickaxe - Realistic Styled Minecraft Animation (Ep. 2)

Here is another Blender animation. This time I show the process of enchanting something in Minecraft, in the way I imagine it might be if done by Steve realistically, without it being done in the gameplay interface box. Once again I do the animation with realistic graphics and more detailed than in game. In this animation, Steve enchants a pickaxe. Not the same pickaxe from the last video, though. I hope you like the video.

Some textures are from http://www.cgtextures.com/ while others I created.
The person model, rig and texture are from http://www.makehuman.org/
All other models were created by me.
All animation was done by me.

Software used:
Blender 2.64
Makehuman 1.0 a7
Audacity 1.3.13-beta
Adobe Premiere Pro CS4
Paint.net 3.5.10

Here are some details/ a quick guide on how I made this animation:
I used Makehuman for the arms and hands. Makehuman does all the modeling, rigging and texturing for me so I just have to worry about animating it.
For textures for the objects in the scene, some of the textures are procedurally generated in Blender which I have designed myself. Other textures I get from cgtextures.com, and some others, including the pages of the book, are ones I made in Paint.net
Modeling the world is easy, I use programs to convert minecraft worlds to files usable by Blender, then I manipulate the objects, seperate pieces, duplicate and put pieces together to build the set, I also build it block by block by extruding faces.
For modeling complex objects like torches, tools and crafting benches, I don't have any tips for them, I just use my experience, there are plenty of good tutorials for modelling at BlenderGuru or BlenderCookie.
For the torch flames, I use the smoke simulator.
For making, rigging the book, I used the "Animating a book in Blender" tutorial at BlenderCookie.
For making the effects of the enchantment, I animated the brightness levels of lights and materials. I used an animated offset for the moving purple glow of the enchanted pickaxe.
For the experience orbs, I used a particle emitter and a forcefield to make a bunch of random orbs and making them go to the pickaxe. For the floating letters, I did the same thing.
For animating the hands, I used targets for the hands so that I could use inverse kinematics.
I used a lot of curves for animating the character and also animating the camera and hands in the 3d view. I can't give much information, just look up some tutorials for character animation it if you want to know more.
For post processing effects I used compositing. Andrew Price has lots of tutorials that teach compositing.
I render out my animation as frames and then import them into Premiere Pro where I might do more post processing including adding titles and sounds. And that's it.
