Chechnya - Chechen Separatists Hold Argun

(27 Dec 1994) Chechen separatists said on Tuesday (27/12) that their forces were
still holding the village of Argun, on the outskirts of Grozny,
the scene of fierce fighting with Russian troops. After two days
of air strikes, most of the Chechen population of Argun has fled,
leaving behind Russian residents who have no relatives to join in
neighbouring areas.
