Galusha Farm, New Holland T9.450 Tractor and Soil Warrior on 12-2-2012
A shiny New Holland tractor pulls an Environmental Tillage Systems Soil Warrior in a harvested corn field south of Somonauk, Illinois. The combo is operated by Galusha Farm of Warrenville, Illinois with Eleazar at the controls on this day. The New Holland T9.450 has a Tier 4A compliant Cursor diesel engine with 446 max rated horsepower.
Both tillage and fertilizing are taking place at one time, saving fuel, time and soil compaction. It's a conservation tillage practice, applying fertilizers into the soil and not on top of the soil. Decreasing the vulnerability to erosion into creeks and waterways and ultimately to the Mississippi Delta... a practice highly recommended by the USDA. This is all put together into a comprehensive written program package called CSP (Conservation Stewardship Program) aimed toward practicing agriculture environmental conservation.
