Banded Damselfly mating and laying on River Severn Worcester
This is from 2008, some of the masses of footage that still needs to be edited. It shows the stunning Banded Demoiselle, Calopteryx splendens mating and laying eggs, on the River Severn just North of Worcester. Unfortunately largely due to the breaking washes from speeding boats 99% of the riverbank is devoid of these water margin plants so vital for biodiversity and preventing bank erosion. However a small amount of water margin plants remain or have been planted in this area and what beauty and biodiversity it holds. Hope you enjoy it.
