Unravel (Animenz arr.) - TK from Ling Tosite Sigure - Tokyo Ghoul OP1 (Piano Cover)
Welp. Here it is. Animenz’s Unravel.
I can’t believe how quickly i managed to stitch it together. I guess I just sat down and decided to grind it out after my 8 hour stream practicing it. Low-key feeling like @fruit right now.
But seriously, thank you guys so much for 3,000 subscribers. I can’t believe how quickly I reached this milestone, and I hope that I can keep producing quality, entertaining, and informative content for all of you!
Anyways, Animenz’s Unravel really is something else. There’s obviously the technical aspect of it, but then there’s also so much that you can do with different textures and articulations, and even dynamics and expressions. Working all that in with all the jumps and runs really takes a lot of work and thought.
At first I wasn’t super into the song, maybe because it’s overplayed to the point where it’s become a meme. But after working on it a bit, it really began to grow on me, to the point where I began to feel some of the emotions that are present in each section.
The loud parts sure are strong and heavy, but there is also a lot of room for the performer to add emotional depth. The soft parts are lovely and can be sung very delicately. The transitions just flow seamlessly, and the song itself carries a seemingly deep sadness.
It’s interesting because this wasn’t my strongest performance at first. I flubbed more notes than I wanted and my tempo was a bit uneven, but I decided to keep trying even though given any normal take I’d start over. Things didn’t get much better, and “the wall” wasn’t the greatest, but after that things got a lot better.
It was like the early mistakes made room for me to just immerse myself into the song itself instead of just focusing on notes. And it’s always an interesting feeling to lose yourself in the performance: you almost lose a sense of who you are, and your memory of what transpired is a bit hazy, but you’re left only with a general good feeling as though you’ve accomplished something great. The only thing I thought once I finished was, of course, GOTEEM!!!
I was that excited haha.
I was also trying out a new camera which is why the shot is a bit off and color isn’t great either. But I think with a bit more work and practice, I should get better at filming my performances too!
In the end, I’m really glad that I got to play this when I did and at such a time as this after so many channel milestones. I hope you guys enjoy this video (even if it was a bit shakier in some ways because of how much I short-cycled my learning cycle), and I look forward to seeing where this channel will go in the future!
Until next time,
