'Prof. Jordan Peterson speaks at Bucknell University on “Free Speech as a Precondition for Mental and Social Health” at the Weis Arts Center, an event co-sponsored by the Bucknell Program for American Leadership and the Open Discourse Coalition.
Students present erupted twice in spontaneous applause during his talk, when he spoke of how their education should not be controlled by faculty ideologues.
As if to make their point, some Bucknell faculty tried to deny students seating at the event. They had encouraged their students to reserve online tickets and not show up to block other students who wanted to attend, but unticketed attendees ended up being admitted to the balconies and an overflow crowd watched a simulcast in Trout Auditoirum, circumventing their efforts to suppress free speech.
His talk at Bucknell was his first public appearance in more than 2 1/2 years and a precursor to a planned new world tour including an upcoming appearance at Cambridge University.'
