The Hawkish Pause

Investors finally got the along awaited Fed pause, but it came with some conditions. Although the Fed didn't raise rates today at the FOMC, through the Summary of Economic Projections, they let the market know they are now expecting 2 more rate hikes by the end of the year. This was the hawkish pause that we discussed and it left traders in an awkward position. Usually Jerome Powell's press conference inspires a lot of moves, but today, the SEP & statement release caused a bigger reaction in markets. We will see how the next set of data and Fed speakers guides this digestion, but as far as being the 2000 pause or 2006 pause, today was an element of both and reminiscent of last year. After this brief market recap and FOMC explanation, I go over my portfolio and 3 stocks for tomorrow. I discuss the trade from yesterday on the 2 year note and how it relates to what we saw today. Then I go over ARKK stock & XOM stock, as well as any other interest rate sensitive stocks as potential pause trades. Finally, I go over NVDA & ADBE stock to watch if AI stock continue to perform as the pseudo safe haven.
