From the depth of unrecorded time the old people in Russia have been telling stories about young women who lived deep in the water......... About water-nymphs.........
They live in ponds, rivers and lakes. They observe us secretly but some people can still see water-nymphs sometimes. Occasionally these beautiful creatures get naughty, then angry but most of the time they are sad... According the myths water-nymphs are those young women who made a hole in the water as a result of their unhappy love or hard female fate...
So when it is a day of Summer Solstice, also known in Russia as a Day of Ivan Kupala, all people enjoy having a great party. It is a time for a bonfire, circle dancing, singing. And it is a time for water-nymphs to get nervous, sad and jealous of alive people and to complain about their hard luck......
