Episode 61. T-90. A bunker on wheels

In this episode of Combat Approved, the viewers will see the most protected combat vehicle of all the modern ones – the Russian main battle tank T-90. It doesn’t just have a strong armor. Today, the main defense from the anti-tank projectiles is the active protection system. And the T-90 has the best one of them all.

First of all, it’s the explosive reactive armor. Basically, it’s made of boxes with plastic explosives attached onto the tank’s armor. As soon as the enemy projectile touches such a box, the latter explodes and destroys it. Few are aware that it was the soviet engineers who were the first to design the explosive reactive armor. It perfectly protects the tank from armor-piercing and highly-explosive shells, and will work even after being pierced with a high-caliber gun. Combat Approved will demonstrate that.

The second important defense is the Arena system. Using a special radar, it detects an approaching anti-tank missile and destroys it with strike elements. And that’s not all of the defensive mechanisms of the T-90, which we’ll tell about in our film.
