Thaba-Nchu residents unaware of Freedom Day event leading to MEC suspension
Some Thaba-Nchu residents in the Free State say they knew nothing about the infamous Freedom Day event, which led to the suspension of Sports, Arts and Culture MEC, Limakatso Mahasa. Free State Premier, Mxolisi Dukwana, recently placed Mahasa on special leave for the remainder of this month.
The suspension comes after Mahasa suspended her Department's HOD, Steve Tshabalala, for refusing to postpone the Thaba Nchu event, marking 30 Years of Freedom. It's been reported that the provincial government spent about three million Rand on logistics and catering for the event, which was poorly attended.
