Adding a BMS to the 38120 battery

In the last video, I showed you how to make a busbar, and assemble the batteries to make a 24 Volt system.

In this video, I will show you how to add a BMS to the battery.

I picked up this Daly LIFEP04 8S 24 Volt common port BMS from AliExpress for $55 shipped.

First, we have to install the 9 wire balance cable to the battery.

After all of the wires have been stripped, we start with the first red cable furthest from the black negative cable, and that connects to the main battery positive terminal.

The 2nd cable connects to the 2nd positive terminal in series on the battery.

The 3rd cable connects to the 3rd positive terminal in series on the battery.

The black ground cable connects to the batteries main negative terminal.

After all cables have been installed, lets do a quick check on the batteries voltage.

The battery reads 26.3 Volts.

Lets unscrew this so we can add the blue B- cable on the batteries main negative terminal.

And now connect the balance cable to the BMS.

Now that everything has been installed, lets check the voltage.

The negative on the multimeter connects to the P-, and the positive connects to the batteries main positive.

And we have a reading of 26.3. This means the BMS is operating correctly.

If this does not read the voltage we checked earlier, your wiring is not correct. Check your wiring and retest.

Lets clean up our install a bit.

That looks a lot better.

The main negative is now the P-. Do not connect a load to the main batteries negative terminal or the BMS will not balance, discharge or charge correctly.

I think it came out well. I will be using this battery on my 10 gallon frag tank in case of an outage.
