The Air21 Express stunned their fans with a surprising trade, sending their top scorer Renren Ritualo to Talk 'N Text in exchange for Leo Avenido, along with first-round picks in '07 and '08.

This game marks the debut of former University of Manila and FEU Tamaraws player donning the purple and white uniform.

Meanwhile, after being released by Alaska and finding no takers as a free agent, Stephen Padilla returned to Cebu and joined Lhuiller in a commercial league. Out of the blue, he received a call from Coach Bo Perasol and the Air21 management, inviting him to join the team. Without hesitation, he flew to Manila and had just one practice session with the team. This game also serves as his first appearance with the Express.
