Let's Play Portal 2 Part 17 (FINALE) | THE FINAL FACE OFF

Hello YouTube and welcome to the FINALE of our Portal 2 playthrough! In today's episode we finally get to Wheatley's lair for the final fight! What comes next is....Random...Shocking...Just plain creepy...All great things to have in a finale video!

Controls -

Same as the first Portal game, nothing too extraordinary or convoluted about them.

Audio - 9/10

Much like the first Portal, Portal 2 has a mute protagonist who is constantly berated with robotic voice actors. I personally feel like Portal 2 outdid Portal in this respect with the addition of Wheatley and Cave Johnson. Wheatley's voice actor was phenomenal, there's no other word for it. He has HUNDREDS of lines that go on for WHO KNOWS how long. The audio diaries that take place in Cave Johnsons time were also a beautiful addition to the game. It was nice to listen to someone other than GLaDOS for a change. Of course the atmospheric sounds are also outstanding and who could forget the ending song?

Graphics - 9/10

Almost all of the models in Portal 2 are reused from the first game. To me it seems like the models have been polished a bit more, everything looks a lot more detailed and cleaner but then again that could be because it's been months since I played the first game. HOWEVER Portal 2 brought much more level detail into play compared to the first game. Most of the chambers were covered in plant-life, destroyed in some fashion, some of them even had open walls that allowed you to see the ruin that the facility has become which I feel is a very nice touch compared to the cleanliness of the first game.

Story - 10/10

I don't usually rate 10's on games but Portal 2's story feels like it deserves it. Not only does it continue on from the first game, but it also expands the world around the player. In Portal the player was left in the dark as to most of what happened to Aperature, or how any of this happened in the first place. Audio diaries and eerie remains of the past bring the character into the world of Aperature, including a large portion of story from Cave Johnson himself. Many secrets were revealed about the facilities experiments, including an incredibly dark insight about our very own GLaDOS that almost makes me feel bad for her. Of course there's betrayal, laughs, and puzzles I'm not smart enough to solve quickly along the way. Overall I think Portal 2 gave the players the insight and background they wanted from the first game while providing the insane puzzles that Portal is known for.

TL;DR

Portal 2 continues on the story of Chell and GLaDOS in a beautiful way. From being absolutely betrayed by our witty companion, Wheatley, to actually starting to like potato GLaDOS, Portal 2 manages to make the player feel more informed about Aperature than ever before. The addition of Cave Johnson, founder of Aperature, and the little secrets you can find around the game that tell Aperature's story in better light really makes the game feel more eerie and ominous than the first one ever did. Throw in fantastic voice acting and an amazing song at the end and you have a Portal game. I 100% recommend these games to anyone who hasn't has the chance to play them yet.
