യോഗ - സത്യവും മിഥ്യയും | Yoga - Myth and Reality (Malayalam) Dr C Viswanathan

In this presentation, Dr.Viswanathan discusses the historical and scientific aspects of Yoga as practiced today. The claim of Yoga being an 'ancient' discipline is critically examined. It is explained that the majority of Asanas practiced in modern yoga is of quite recent origin. The archaic ideas behind the practice of Paranyama is discussed in some detail. It is explained that , having been conceived by people without proper knowledge about human anatomy and physiology, practice of many 'Asanas' can indeed result in bodily harm. Such questions as whether Yoga is good as an exercise (it is not) and why yoga is 'internationally accepted' are also addressed briefly.
