The Boys’ Antony Starr, Jack Quaid & Karl Urban Fan Expo Canada 2019 Q&A Panel
Stars of the hit Amazon Studios series “The Boys” -- Antony Starr (Homelander), Jack Quaid (Hughie Campbell), Karl Urban (Billy Butcher) -- discuss the show and their careers, share behind-the-scenes stories and answers fan questions at their 2019 Fan Expo Canada Q&A panel in Toronto.
"The Boys" (2019-) was adapted from the Garth Ennis/Darick Robertson comic into an Amazon TV series by Eric Kripke. It is set in a universe where superpowered people are recognized as heroes by the general public and owned by Vought International, a powerful corporation which markets and monetizes them. Outside of their heroic personas, most are arrogant and corrupt. The series primarily focuses on two groups: the Seven, Vought International's premier superhero team, and the titular Boys, vigilantes looking to keep the corrupted heroes under control. The Boys are led by Billy Butcher, who despises all superpowered people, and the Seven are led by the egotistical and unstable Homelander. As a conflict ensues between the two groups, the series also follows the new members of each team: Hugh "Hughie" Campbell of the Boys, who joins the vigilantes after his girlfriend is killed in a high speed collision by the Seven's A-Train, and Annie January / Starlight of the Seven, a young and hopeful heroine forced to face the truth about the heroes she admires.
Antony Starr (born October 25th, 1975) is a New Zealand actor best known for his dual role as twins Jethro and Van West in New Zealand's hit comedy/drama "Outrageous Fortune" and Billy Newwood in "Without a Paddle." He was the series lead, Lucas Hood, in the four season run of "Banshee."
Jack Henry Quaid (born April 24th, 1992) is an American actor. The son of actors Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan, he made his acting debut with a minor role in the science fiction film "The Hunger Games" (2012). In 2019, he starred with Maya Erskine in "Plus One" -- a romantic comedy on Hulu.
Karl-Heinz Urban (born June 7th, 1972) is a New Zealand actor. His career began with appearances in New Zealand films and TV series such as "Xena: Warrior Princess." His first Hollywood role was in the 2002 horror film "Ghost Ship." He also portrayed Leonard McCoy in the rebooted "Star Trek" films, Vaako in the "Riddick" film series, and Judge Dredd in "Dredd."
