Lazarus Tembo: "Njala" ( = "Hunger" in Nyanja language) - an extract of ZBS TV show "Folk night" (1986)

"Born in 1946, Lazarus Tembo was born sighted until the age of eight when he suffered from an eye infection. At this time he was a pupil at a mission school in Eastern Province. His grandmother tried to cure the infection with some herbs but unfortunately calamity befell on Tembo and he went completely blind. [...]
In the song "Njala" a village has been struck with hunger. This was captured on a studio video at ZBS with Tembo singing in front of a beautiful mural painting of a village scene done by Trevor Ford {1937-2007, Welsh-born paintor and cartoonist}".
