SNS 158 Part 2: Heavy Structural Welding, Dual Shield MIG

This video shows the fabrication of stands to hold gearboxes. The stands serve two primary reasons. One being a way so safely secure and transport the gearboxes to the customer. The second is to hold and store the units until ready to install.
Once completed the new gearbox units will safely be set down onto the top plate and bolted on with it's mounting flange. The they can be moved around with a forklift without a lot of risk for damage.
The welding I use for this build is flux core MIG, it's also known as Dual Shield when using it in the manner I am. Flux-core is a great way to weld heavy structures and plate steel. It provides goof penetration and a high deposit rate. I use 75/25 mixed gas when welding with it. The machine is a Millermatic 251.
