Desert Elephants of the Hoanib Valley, Namibia
At the heart of the Hoanib Valley of Namibia is a seasonal river bed, which is an oasis for the animals that live in this part of the Namib desert. The elephants in the Hoanib have adapted to this environment by being smaller to conserve resources, having longer legs to walk up to 40 miles in a night between water sources and having wide feet to allow easier walking in the sandy desert.
