This is the ultimate GoPro Hero 9 Black comparison with the GoPro Hero 8 Black, the Insta360 one R 1-inch and the DJI Osmo Action:

Audio Comparison:
The GoPro Hero 9 Black is an ideal camera for all vloggers because of the new front screen. But does it actually have good audio or do you need an external mic? In my test you can see, that you do not need an external mic. The GoPro Hero 9 has very good audio in normal, but also during windy conditions.

Stabilization Comparison:
Hypersmooth 3.0 should bring a better stabilization on the GoPro Hero 9 Black compared to the GoPro Hero 8 Black, but the only difference is the horizontal leveling. During all normal tests in 4K 30FPS wide, there is barely and difference from the GoPro Hero 9 Black to the Hero 8 Black. Both still outperform the Insta360 one R and the DJI Osmo Action.

5K Comparison:
With the new sensor the GoPro Hero 9 Black is able to shoot 5K videos. The Insta360 one R 1-inch has been the camera with the best image quality so far and the GoPro Hero 9 Black comes really close, but doesn't beat the Insta360. Both cameras have an extremely sharp image, but zoomed in you can see, that the Insta360 one R 1-inch looks less grainy as it has a bigger sensor. But summed up, both cameras, the GoPro Hero 9 Black and the Insta360 make absolutely amazing videos.

Color Profile Comparison:
The GoPro Hero 9 Black looks sharper and more saturated compared to the GoPro Hero 8. Other than that nothing has changed and in my opinion the GoPro Hero 9 looks too sharp. However, you can just set your sharpness to low in your protune settings and that fixes this "problem".
The same results repeat if you change to the flat color profile. The GoPro Hero 9 Black looks sharper and more saturated.
The Insta360 one R 1-inch has a totally different looking color profile with their "log" setting and so does the DJI Osmo Action with "D-Cinelike".

Photo Comparison:
The Insta360 one R 1-inch makes absolutely amazing photos and with the GoPro Hero 9 Black being released it is still the photo king. The pictures of the 1-inch camera looks even 10 times zoomed in very sharp, but the GoPro Hero 9 Black comes really close to those results. Compared to the GoPro Hero 8 Black you can see clear differences that the photos now look way better, as we now have 20 and not only 12.5 megapixels.

Horizontal Levelling Comparison:
New on the GoPro Hero 9 Black is the Linear + feature which allows you to always level the horizon. In my comparison you can clearly see that the GoPro Hero 9 Black outperforms the Insta360 one R 1-inch and the DJI Osmo Action clearly, but the GoPro Hero 8 Black is almost as good as the Hero 9 keeping the horizon level.
