HOW TO READ PEOPLE - Steps to become Socially Intelligent | Benjamin Franklin
Our model for today - Benjamin Franklin was well known for his ability to deal with people.
He was even called “The harmonious human multitude” because of his notorious social intelligence.
But he was not always like that – Ben was actually very naive as a young man and suffered enough from this problem, before he became so socially intelligent.
He experienced throughout his life, several negative situations that made him think seriously about his naivete and about his difficulty to read peoples’ intentions and manipulations.
These events got him thinking deep about this problem and his need to become more socially intelligent.
Determined to brake this patter - become Socially Intelligent and get rid of his naivete, he came up with the following solution:
#1 - put his feelings and emotions aside – being this way more rational in his social interactions.
#2 - Deeply observe the person he was interacting with (read the person’s character) - to be able to anticipate any bad intentions they could have.
Thanks for watching!!
