Road to the Games Ep. 17.05: Valenzuela/Bailey
Lindsey Valenzuela and Dan Bailey not only are seasoned CrossFit Games veterans. They’re also fan favorites. This year, both athletes looked to make a return to the Games in its inaugural year in Madison, Wisconsin.

In 2016, Valenzuela took a break from competition to grow her family.
After giving birth to her son, Arsenio “Arce” Valenzuela, in May, Lindsey recalls not being able to do a pull-up. She could have given up in that moment, but instead she trained harder.
Valenzuela reflected long and hard on her decision to return to competitive training.
“I have a new why,” she says. “That why is to make sure my son knows what women are capable of doing. He’s why I bust my ass everyday in the gym.”
Dan Bailey also tailored his training to make a comeback in 2017.
After narrowly missing qualification for the 2016 Reebok CrossFit Games out of the California Regional, Bailey decided to return to his roots in Ohio and make another run for the title of Fittest on Earth.
In this episode of “Road to the Games,” follow the two athletes' journeys to Regionals, and see how they deal with the realization that the road is never smooth.
