That’s right folks, this time I’ll be talking about Jared Diamond’s 1997 magnum opus, Guns, Germs, and Steel: the Fate of Human Societies, which seeks to explain the dominance of the west and the difference in human development through, well, guns, germs, and steel. Learn about why everything is more complicated than you would like it to be and you’re never going to find a satisfying explanation for anything, sorry. Jared Diamond isn’t a historian, but neither am I, so this should be a fair fight.
