What Potlucks Teach Us About Food Sustainability | Jonathan Kershaw | TEDxBGSU
Potlucks bring together a variety of dishes around the common goal of feeding a community. Likewise, diverse contributions and inclusive approaches are needed to create a more sustainable global food system. Although inviting change on an issue as complex and even polarizing as sustainability is challenging, message framing and consideration of different values can influence food choices. Inviting diverse solutions and perspectives to the sustainability conversation will help feed our global community. Dr. Jonathan Kershaw is an Associate Professor of Food and Nutrition at Bowling Green State University. His research focuses on sensory and messaging strategies to promote healthier and more environmentally sustainable food choices. He is passionate about teaching the rising generation of food and nutrition leaders. Jonathan received his Ph.D. in food science from Purdue University, where he also completed his post-doctoral work. He received a B.S. in food science from Brigham Young University. He enjoys cycling (mostly just commuting), basketball, and games with family and friends. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
