Tim shows a range of devices he calls Sky Writers. These gadgets contain a number of LEDs, and when you wave them to and fro in the air, the lights create words or sometimes images, apparently in thin air!

An American artist called Bill Bell invented this technology in the 1970s - see https://subliminaryartworks.com/ - and his larger artworks appear in various places around the world.

Since then, a number of toy companies have produced smaller versions, still using the same basic idea.

A toy like a football rattle - spin it and the words appear. 'Happy 2000' it says, which gives a clue how old it is! And you can programme it with words of your choice.

Eye-Fo looks just like a frisbee, but when you sent it flying, the LEDs light up around the edge. Frisbee in the dark maybe?

Finally, a Japanese version that allows you to scan a word or an image, and then when you wave the gadget in the air, it displays the word or image that you scanned. Amazing!
