Mohammad Hossain is a municipal worker in central Kabu.

He remembers a time when the central Silo Road was dusty, dirty, and unsafe.

Today, Silo Road is a model of urban transportation, thanks to the Kabul Urban Transport Efficiency Improvement project.

The project, implemented by Kabul Municipality, aims to improve urban transportation in Kabul city, easing traffic and pedestrian flow.

The project results can be seen on busy Silo Road, with wide, asphalted lanes, an improved median strip, concrete sidewalks for pedestrians, a proper drainage system and street lamps.

With funding support from the Afghanistan Reconstruction Trust Fund, the project has completed four infrastructural projects in Kabul, and will continue through 2019, improving transit, sanitation, and safety across the capital city.
